I built ResumeBuildersFree. It started because I went looking for a free resume builder for someone and could not find one that was actually free at the download — the good ones wanted a subscription, and the free ones stamped a watermark across the page or made you register before you could see anything.

What I write about here

Mostly the mechanical side of resumes, because that is what I can verify rather than assert:

• How applicant tracking systems read a file. What survives a PDF parser and what does not. This site's ATS work uses the same PDF parsing library the tools themselves use, so the claims are testable.
• Why layout choices break parsing. Two columns, tables, text inside an image, contact details in a header — each of these fails for a specific, demonstrable reason.
• File formats, length and structure. The questions with checkable answers.

What I do not claim

I am not a recruiter, a career coach or an HR professional, and I do not write as one. When this site covers something that is a matter of judgement rather than mechanics — whether to explain an employment gap, how to describe a career change — it says what the evidence and common practice suggest, cites where that comes from, and leaves the decision with you.

The editorial policy sets out how that line is drawn, and what checks a page passes before it is published.
